MISSION MOMENT:
At The Dolan Fund, we focus on a four-pronged approach to helping families: education and advocacy, respite care, holiday programming, and financial assistance. In celebration of our quadripartite programming, this issue of the Community Buzz brings you four stories that show the impact of your generosity.
HOPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Caleb is a 4-year-old diagnosed with Autism. Because of his many therapies and appointments, his mother can only work limited hours. We helped Caleb’s family with utility bill pay. Caleb also received holiday gifts through The Dolan Fund Hope for the Holidays Program. His mother wrote us a note asking us to thank the donors who made this holiday joy possible.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Rafeef is a 3-year-old diagnosed with a progressive genetic disorder, CM1 Gangliosidosis. She is in a vegetative state, on a ventilator and is fed through feeding tubes and sadly was recently referred to hospice. The Dolan Fund paid the family’s gas/oil bill to help offset their financial burden.

Anthony is a 5-year-old boy diagnosed with Chronic Lung and Kidney Disease, Epilepsy and is ventilator dependent. After a near fatal medical overdose, he was transferred to a skilled nursing facility 3 hours from his home and his mother did not have the means to visit him. The Dolan Fund covered the hotel costs through Kolbe Hopeful Nights

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Josean is a 5-year-old battling Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (ALL). She requires extensive medical care, hospitalizations, IV infusions and chemotherapy. The Dolan Fund helped with her family’s mortgage payment.

Generosity Across Generations: The Pucci Family
At the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund, we are lucky to know many generous individuals who prioritize service to their neighbors and who recognize that for families with children living with critical illnesses, it takes a village—and we must be that village. We are even more fortunate to have supporters who demonstrate this commitment to charity across many generations. The Pucci Family is one such supporter.
Kristy Pucci serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors of KADMF. Her work as an occupational therapist at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has given Kristy a front row seat to the financial hardships facing families with children living with disabilities. Kristy’s expertise and professional experience provides the Board with insight contributing to the strategic decisions made in the advancement of our mission. In addition to her professional prowess, Kristy is our resident raffle basket maker. She often volunteers to take the donated items for our events and transform them into beautifully displayed prizes.
Kristy’s concern for the community was passed down from her father, Nick. Since Kristy became involved and shared the mission of the Fund with her family, Nick has made several unrestricted major gifts — meaning that the Fund is permitted to utilize the gifts on any financial assistance application that requires funding—no limitations for diagnosis, geography, or age. When asked about what he hopes for the future of the fund, Nick is clear that he would like the Dolan Fund to raise the maximum gift allowed to each family per year to deepen the impact for the families served. As the Fund enters a new strategic plan, we will carefully consider Nick’s thoughts.
At the holidays, Nick and Kristy work with other members of the Pucci Family to pool their resources to adopt a family. The Pucci’s participation in our Hope for the Holidays program always guarantees that one of our larger families will be adopted. The Pucci’s holiday donation comes each year with their heartwarming and inspirational message that the gift is from the entire Pucci family memo. Kristy and Nick, the Fund is grateful for your service, for your generosity, and for your love of community.
