A Message From Our Executive Director…
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” These words, attributed to Helen Keller roughly a century ago, speak directly to our world today. Overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic is not a solo task. The Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund is part of a region-wide safety net that is helping families meet the needs of their seriously ill, injured or disabled children. Like Helen Keller herself, we are advocates for their medical needs and their emotional wellbeing.
Life in the pandemic has a difficult rhythm to it. Sometimes it’s a race – a race to the hospital, a race for a vaccine, a race for hand sanitizer and face masks. At other times, activity grinds to a halt: no school, no employment, no social outings or sports. We all feel the uncertainty of this “new normal.” But please remember, for children who are hospitalized or homebound, you can make a difference. How? Offer to have a meal delivered. Or provide a ride to a doctor’s appointment. And if you are able, please consider partnering with the Dolan Fund by making a charitable gift that we will direct towards preserving the health and wellbeing of medically vulnerable children throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
In recent months we have also reflected carefully on the principles underlying the Dolan Fund’s work. In doing so we have affirmed our organizational commitment to achieving racial and economic equity. Our mantra has long been to deliver help and hope. We acknowledge that giving voice to the needs of families with ill and disabled children in communities of color is a requirement for realizing our mission. Throughout our towns, governments, schools and workplaces, we will continually provide education and information that helps everyone experience genuine social justice.
Our goal is for the world to sparkle again with confidence and optimism. As Helen Keller understood, working together will be required. Thank you for joining us in this effort!
